Timothy Tan co-founded an atelier of other, a pair of doers hinging between the fields of architecture, matter and art, molding space and material into tangible experiences. We encourage a liberating madness to take hold and express our spirits through laughter with a critical note in the mix. aaoo’s research into abandoned GRP (glass reinforced plastic) led them to create objects and furniture with second-life. Reviving Fibreglass:Cocoon was further translated into landscape scenographies and became part of an urban installation, awarded by DiffMix for European Capital of Culture 2022. The project went on to win the product category in Circular by Design Challenge 2022 held by the Ministry of Economy of Luxembourg. It later received the generous support of Le fonds stART-up by OEuvre Grande-Duchesse Charlotte.
Alongside aaoo, Timothy practices as an architect, notably at Jensen and Skodvin Architects. He is now based in London. His previous project experience spans across Luxembourg, Singapore, Shanghai and Dubai. Ranging from development project, conservation project, private house, small-scale conversion, interior design, scenography and object design. / @anatelierofother
