Maïté Seimetz
Maïté Seimetz is a Luxembourgish artist and architectural designer, working between Luxembourg and Paris. Her often grotesque and uncanny sculptural work reflects on the affective connections between humans, objects and environments by deconstructing the boundaries between animate and inanimate. After graduating from the Bartlett School of Architecture, she has developed an interdisciplinary approach to design, as she practices as a designer with the creative liberty of an artist. She specialises in ‘digital craftsmanship’, combining digital sculpture, 3D printing, animation and VR technology with hand crafted elements.
Drawing from references ranging from surrealist, baroque and grotesque art movements to science-fiction and manga, her world revolves around hybrid creatures and surreal mutations, which transcribe the real into the digital and vice-versa in an immersive and theatrical manner.
Over the last couple of years her work has been internationally exhibited in France, Denmark, Luxembourg, England and Italy. / @i.ate.maite_
