Kai McLaughlin

Kai is a designer based in London who graduated from the Bartlett School of Architecture (UCL) with a BSc Architecture (RIBA/ARB Part I). His work engages with existing systems rich in physical or semiotic complexity through sensitive use of materials, scale and geometry. As a result, both honest craft and modern methods of production are fervently investigated in his projects. This is reflected in his design process which fluctuates between digital and analogue, often using one to augment the other in unconventional ways.

Alongside his architectural work, Kai has worked with artists to design and manufacture installations, as well as construct the student-made exhibitions for Bartlett Summer Show 2018 and 2019. Kai is always looking for opportunities to explore new ways of making, at all scales.
