Helix Chair Prototype 1 is a scale model forming the foundational beginning to the ongoing exploratory journey towards the Helix Chair.
Inspired in part by the occasional lull in a billowing line of smoke coming from the late night burning of an incense stick, the starting point was to capture the essence of movement in a static form, turning the act of sitting into an experience of suspended animation. Twisting ribbons of vapor are translated into flowing sheets of wood and metal.
The first in a series of ongoing prototypes, Helix Chair Prototype 1 is an expression of the Helix design language in 2mm mild steel and found wood.
