Gubns at Bloqs: Tour, Workshop & Social for London Design & Open House Festivals

As part of London Design Festival and Open House Festival, Gubns partnered with London’s largest open-access workshop, Bloqs, to host a full-day programme including tours, a metalworking workshop and evening social.

On September 17th, Gubns collaborated with Bloqs to host their first metal workshop for guests to create a bespoke brass pen.

The unique 5-hour workshop was taught by Gubns member Aimilios (‘Emil’) Davlantis Lo, a London-based Architect, Machinist and Mechanical Workshop Engineer at UCL’s High Precision Design and Fabrication Facility.

Workshop students walked away with their very own bespoke pen, having learned to use high-end machinery with expert guidance alongside the architect himself.

Throughout the day, Bloqs Co-Founder Al Parra guided festival-goers on a tour of the UK’s first open access factory for makers. The 32,000 sqf ‘makers hub’ includes a metalworking and woodworking department, textile space, co-working offices, and more.
